Pedestrian safety awareness is on the minds of many in the Westminster community due to recent pedestrian-vehicle accidents. Over the past year, there have been several near misses and a few accidents that have involved vehicles hitting pedestrians as they were making there way to the college.
Through the Two Dollar Challenge program, Westminster participants helped expand economic opportunities and improve the living conditions faced by the poor. Between March 28 and April 26, all participants lived on two dollars a day or less. They also raised money to donate to those living in poverty.
Graduation for students at Westminster is full of traditions and festivities. On Saturday, May 30, Westminster will celebrate its 134th Commencement Ceremony at the E-Center. According to the college website, the ceremony "is more than a celebration of the moment, it is also a link to the past and a promise to the future.
Westminster will begin offering a major in Spanish starting fall semester 2009. A minor in Spanish has been offered at the college for many years. However, students wishing to pursue a degree in Spanish had no choice but to look elsewhere - until now. "Finally! It's about time," said Joe Dennis who is currently taking a Spanish class and graduates in May.
